U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS): USFWS mission is to work with others to conserve, protect, and enhance fish, wildlife, and plants and their habitats for the continuing benefit of the American people. One way the USFWS achieves this mission is by working with partners to manage environmental threats associated with invasive species. HabitattitudeTM is an outreach effort that seeks to inspire, educate, and empower people to be both responsible pet owners and environmental stewards. The USFWS believes the HabitattitudeTM campaign is an important platform for both industry- and community-based outreach that seeks to minimize the risks associated with organisms in trade that may also become invasive.

National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA): NOAA’s mission is to understand and predict changes in climate, weather, oceans, and coasts; to share that knowledge and information with others; and to conserve and manage coastal and marine ecosystems and resources. The challenges facing our ocean and coastal resources and the well-being of the American people depend upon the health and resilience of coupled natural and social ecosystems. NOAA’s mission of science, service, and stewardship is directed to a vision of the future where societies and their ecosystems are healthy and resilient in the face of sudden or prolonged change. NOAA believes the HabitattitudeTM campaign is an important opportunity for stakeholders to work together to ensure that the resiliency of our natural resources is protected through better information that all Americans considering bringing a pet into their home can use for better decision-making.

PIJAC is now the Pet Advocacy Network, the policy voice of the responsible pet care community, advocating for pet care priorities at the local, state, federal and international levels. For nearly 50 years, the Pet Advocacy Network has been dedicated to promoting animal well-being and responsible pet ownership, fostering environmental stewardship, and ensuring the availability of healthy pets. A major component of the Pet Advocacy Network’s commitment to conservation of natural resources involves promoting the importance of the pet industry and its customers in supporting programs to prevent the introduction of invasive species into our environment, including science-based regulation coupled with proactive and innovative educational initiatives. The Pet Advocacy Network has been instrumental in collaborative efforts among industry, government and other stakeholders to implement proactive educational programs such as HabitattitudeTM to minimize the impact of invasive species and diseases on our pets, people, and our environment.
