Green Bay Aquarium Society hosts successful exotic pet surrender event, next event scheduled

The Green Bay Aquarium Society (GBAS) Exotic Pet Surrender Event held in Kakauna WI on October 26th was a huge success. Area organizations kept over 70 animals from being released into the wild.  Among the animals that were surrendered were fish, reptiles, pet birds, a chinchilla, and a 50 pound tortoise.

“We are happy to provide a safe place for aquarium pet owners to surrender their pets, no questions asked,” said Noah Carriveau, GBAS president. “Having the surrender event the day before the auction helps us to rehome fish quickly without having to worry about long-term foster care and storage.”

The Habitattitude Rehoming Network is a collection of area rehoming partners that provide responsible alternatives to release for exotic pet owners who are no longer able to care for their pets. The next event is planned for March 7th at a new venue, the DoubleTree by Hilton Appleton.  If you need help before then, you can contact the Green Bay Aquarium Society at www.gbasonline.org/pet-rehoming
