National Invasive Species Awareness Week, Part II May 15-22

The North American Invasive Species Management Association (NAISMA) announces National Invasive Species Awareness Week (NISAW) Part II is being held from May 15-22, 2021.

NISAW is an international event to raise awareness about invasive species, the threat that they pose, and what can be done to prevent their spread.  Organized by NAISMA, NISAW encourages representatives from local, state, federal, and regional organizations to discuss legislation, policies, and improvements that can be made to prevent and manage invasive species.

Partners are planning local events to remove invasive species. These events are meant to educate elected officials, decision makers, and the public on how they can help to stop the spread of invasive species and protect communities.

New this year, NISAW.org features a form to upload your local events. Whether you’ve organized a community weed pull or you are doing an aquatic invasives tour with a legislator, add your event to our listing! By adding in-person and virtual events, you’ll be featured on NISAW.org and given a shout out to our Facebook followers. Plus, the first 20 groups to add an in-person event will receive a bundle of outreach materials for their event! The first 20 groups to add virtual events will receive a NAISMA hat and travel mug as a thank you. Note, events do not need to occur at the exact same time as NISAW Part II; we will accept any events hosted in the month of May.

Attend a Free Virtual Webinar daily during NISAW!

There will be more free webinars from May 17-21, 2021.  All webinars begin at 1:00 p.m. CT. Register at the link below.
